CT Scan
A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, is a diagnostic imaging test used to see inside your body. This scanner combines X-rays with computer technology to create a deeper picture from multiple angles and directions.
The scan creates a cross-sectional image that allows your doctor to see both the size and shape of tissues, organs, structures, and tumors. CT scans are often taken after a patient has had severe trauma to the spinal cord, brain, pelvis, chest, or abdomen.
CT scans are painless and do not take too much time. A patient will lie on a table that slides into a scanner that is shaped like a tube or cylinder. The X-ray tube will rotate around the table, creating a two-dimensional view that appears on a monitor for your doctor to see.
